Has written other books, and, like Lemony Snicket, plays the accordion. Handler has played the accordion in a band, The Gothic Archies.
His other books are The Basic Eight and Watch Your Mouth. They have been described as Gothic comedies, with adult subject matter.
He lives in Sacremento, California.
While researching right wing organisations for some writing work he joined internet mailing lists and came up with a pseudonym to disguise his real identity. After he had finished this work he and his friends continued to use the name to order pizzas, and when Handler found himself writing a Series of children's books he decided to resurrect the name Lemony Snicket.
